Territory mineral investments on display

Chief Minister Adam Giles today opened the Minerals Investment Opportunities Seminar in Japan and launched a new tool to encourage investment in the Territory resource sector.

The Northern Territory has a large number of identified resource deposits that represent significant potential however the Territory remains relatively under developed.

To realise this potential there needs to be further investment so that junior explorers and companies can move from exploration to full production.

Today’s minerals seminar brings together around 44 senior representatives from Territory-based companies and potential Japanese investment houses to promote the opportunities available in the Northern Territory.

To assist in promoting Territory investment opportunities, Mr Giles officially launched the Northern Territory Investment Guide at the seminar. (Visithttp://www.investnt.com.au/or for Japanese language version go tohttp://www.investnt.com.au/index_jap.shtml)

“The investment guide has been produced in Japanese language and details potential projects as well as important government and industry contacts,” Mr Giles said.

“The Northern Territory has a large number of potentially extremely exciting resource projects that could create hundreds of jobs right across the Northern Territory.

“The first step in realising this potential is to bring together Territory companies and interested investors to discuss these opportunities.”

Territory based companies making presentations at today’s Minerals Investment Opportunities Seminar include:

• Emmerson Resources with their Tennant Creek copper and gold project
• Tellus with their Central Australia Salt Mine project
• TNG with their Mount Peake project
• Rum Jungle Resources with their phosphate project

Also presenting at the seminar is a senior representative from INPEX who will outline the resource giant’s positive experiences of investing and working in the Northern Territory.

The Japan Minerals Investment Opportunities Seminar is a joint initiative of the Northern Territory Government, AUSTRADE and Japan Oil, Gas and Metals National Corporation.
