GARY HIGGINS - MEMBER FOR DALY
PETER STYLES - MINISTER FOR INFRASTRUCTURE
Work has begun on rectification works at the Mandorah Jetty; while the million dollar carpark works will begin April 22.
Minister for Infrastructure Peter Styles said the Mandorah Jetty had suffered extensive damaged earlier this year during Wet Season storms and needed to be repaired.
“The Jetty suffered foreshore damage; embankment repair works have finished this week and work is underway repairing the corrosion protection system,” Mr Styles said.
"The $200,000 project will prolong the life of the Jetty, and I am looking forward to completion in April.”
Member for Daly Gary Higgins said the rectification works on the jetty would be very well received by the Wagait community.
“Once the jetty has been fully repaired and the car park upgraded we are looking at a fantastic area that our government has delivered.
“The upgrade to the parking facilities will be completed in July and will see 133 new parking spaces.”
AllCivil NT has been awarded the $1.05 million contract to begin work on the carpark later this month.
Mr Styles said the work would include earthworks, bitumen sealed pavement, concrete kerbing, pedestrian, cycle paths, security lighting and minor landscaping.
“We will see new bitumen sealed pavement and kerbing as well as pedestrian and cycle paths, which will include a realignment of the existing cycle path to the new car park, to safely direct cyclists to the bike racks,” Mr Styles said.
“The car park upgrade will include parking areas for buses, cars, cars with trailers, motor cycles, the handicapped and bicycles.
“This work is part of the Giles Government’s plan to grow and drive the development of Northern Australia with the improvement of infrastructure assets.”
This project is fully funded by the Northern Territory Government.
