Peter Chandler
Minister for Infrastructure, Minister for Transport
The Northern Territory Government is continuing to look after Territorians to ensure their safety on our roads is paramount, with the upgrade to a busy Palmerston intersection.
Minister for Transport, Peter Chandler, switched on the new traffic lights at the Lambrick Avenue and Farrar Boulevard intersection in Palmerston today.
“The Country Liberal Government is committed to the safety of every Territorian and this is a prime example of infrastructure benefiting those who use our roads daily." Mr Chandler said.
“This road carries 12,000 vehicles per day and the installation of the traffic lights significantly improves safety and traffic flow for motorists.
“The areas neighbouring the Lambrick Avenue and Farrar Boulevard intersection have seen significant growth in recent months. Now residents will experience improved traffic flow management in peak periods.” Minister for Infrastructure, Peter Chandler said.
Minor road repairs such as road resurfacing and line-marking have also been completed as part of the upgrade to the intersection.
This upgrade is also a win for cyclists who can now transition onto Lambrick Avenue to access the Howard Springs cycle path.
“This government is committed to enhancing road safety and traffic flow. The works completed on this intersection is proof we are listening to the needs of the Palmerston community.” Mr Chandler said.
Local member for Blain, Nathan Barrett commended the installation.
“It is good to see the government respond to the community safety concerns at this intersection.
“Community safety is important to me and I am pleased this has been fast tracked.” Mr Barrett said.
