Bess Price
Minister for Parks and Wildlife
The Giles Government is committed to increasing visitation to the Territory’s wonderful parks and reserves through sustainable development and increased commercial partnerships.
Minister for Parks and Wildlife Bess Price said the recent Expressions of Interest (EOI) process had produced exciting opportunities for commercial tourism development across our parks and reserves.
“I am pleased to announce that nature based adventure tourism company, Trees Adventure, is in the final stages of being assessed,” Mrs Price said.
“Trees Adventure is planning to design, construct and manage a treetop experience at Howard Springs Nature Park.
“You will be able to climb, swing, leap and fly through the forest on a rope course.
“This exciting new tourism opportunity for the Top End is just one of 45 submissions received through the EOI process.
“The Territory has some of the most amazing parks in the world and we want to unlock the untapped potential of our parks and reserves.
“The Territory Government is determined to encourage economic development across all regions by opening up the parks and reserves for private sector investment and it is fantastic to see ideas becoming a reality.
“Increasing visitation to parks and reserves is known to deliver increased awareness and understanding of core park values, assisting the long term conservation efforts.”
Expressions of Interest closed in November last year, and some of the submissions received include:
