Allan King & Sons Constructions has been awarded a $11 million contract to develop Roystonea Avenue and Temple Terrace in Palmerston.
Minister for Infrastructure, Peter Chandler, said the works are a milestone in transforming Palmerston.
“I love nothing more than seeing our city grow and prosper and bringing new services to our community,” Chandler said.
“It's an exciting time for Palmerston, residents will notice every day how much is going on and how fast our community is growing.”
Works will include the construction of additional turn lanes, the upgrading of traffic signals, resurfacing pavement, upgrading street lighting, and the construction of shared pedestrian and cycleway access lanes.
Member for Drysdale, Lia Finocchiaro, said the redesign will bring numerous benefits to the community.
“I know regular uses will understand why this additional work is required. Good planning needs to not only cater for the here and now, but consider our future growth,” Finocchiaro said.
The $11 million project is funded fully by the Northern Territory government.
Works are expected to begin late November.
