A tender has been released as part of the state government’s $10.68 million investment to renew public facilities at Casuarina Coastal Reserve.
Minister for Parks and Wildlife, Bess Nungarrayi Price, said that following upgrades park facilities would become more accessible for the public.
“Outdoor activities are what make Darwin so special. With the Reserve becoming increasingly more popular it was essential to upgrade the facilities to accommodate new and regular users,” Price said.
“The walking paths and recreational spaces will now be more accessible with the upgrades including BBQ’s and new drinking fountains. I am very pleased to announce this tender open and look forward to the work commencing.”
The Casuarina Coastal Reserve is the Territory’s most popular reserve with approximately 900,000 visits each year.
The tender works will begin and take place at Dripstone Park, Lee Point and the Free Beach.
Some of the works set to take place include:
• Installation of drinking water fountains at Dripstone Park and Lee Point
• Installation of recycling bins at Dripstone Park, Lee Point and the Free Beach car park
• Installation and upgrading of perimeter fencing at Dripstone Park and the Free Beach
The tender is set to be awarded early February, with works set to begin soon after.
