The Northern Territory government has awarded more than $75,000 worth of grant funding towards improving road safety awareness.
Minister for Transport, Peter Chandler, said increasing road safety awareness was vital for promoting road safety.
“Educating Territorians on the importance of road safety is a whole-of-community effort to ensure motorists and cyclists have safe access to Territory roads,” Chandler said.
"The Country Liberal government is committed to keeping people safe on our roads and we encourage community groups to participate in a range of road safety initiatives.”
Initiatives will include a wide range of measures ranging from bus advertising, educational theatre, and school video competitions.
As part of the funding, Gray Primary School has been awarded $3000 to fund bike education sessions for the students.
“It is fantastic to see students educating their peers and their school community about road safety and encouraging safe behaviours,” he said.
“I applaud the creativity put forward by all applicants and I am pleased to be part of an initiative that allows government, business and the community to work together to target road safety issues in their local areas.”
The next round of grants is scheduled to open on 1 May 2016.
