The Northern Territory government is seeking Expressions of Interest for the construction of new facilities for the Royal Darwin Hospital.
Minister for Health, John Elferink, said the project would ensure the treatment of patients into the future.
“This project allows a provider to partner with the government and offer services that don’t currently exist,” Elferink said.
“This is about expanding and improving community care services and ensuring hospital beds are utilised most efficiently.”
The facilities will include a new multi-storey carpark, a 24-bed cognitive care facility, as well as on-site residential accommodation.
The multi-storey car park is expected to provide an enhanced level of convenience for patients, visitors and staff.
“Through this process it will be determined whether the facility will be run by government or whether a non-government organisation might be able to deliver a value-for-money outcome,” he said.
“The system has also been simplified to a pay and display model, which is comparable to similar parking arrangements across Darwin.”
Registrations close 27 March 2016.
