The Northern Territory government is dedicating $5 million towards the construction of new tourism infrastructure.
Chief Minister, Adam Giles, said the funding would derive from the state’s Tourism Infrastructure Development Fund.
"As current resources projects taper off, our economy will soon tilt towards tourism as a key driver of growth," Giles said.
"We need our infrastructure to be ready for this shift, complementing the already outstanding tourism product.”
The funding forms part of the government’s $100 million 'Boosting our Economy' package to fast-track new projects.
City of Darwin Cruises owner, Les Reif, said the funding would allow his business to upgrade existing company vessels.
"This funding has been crucial for us to reduce costs and increase premium capacity and will help us get this new Harbour tour on the market this season," Reif said.
"Our new sailing tour experiences will showcase key harbour points of interest, Darwin's heritage and military history as well as the natural environment and ecology of Darwin Harbour."
Applications will close on Wednesday 13 April 2016.
