Palmerston Regional Hospital intersection officially complete

Works on the Stuart Highway and Temple Terrace intersection are complete, as part of extended Palmerston road works.

Minister for Transport, Peter Chandler, said the intersection would provide future access to Palmerston Regional Hospital.

“The capacity of the intersection had been significantly expanded to service future traffic demand in this area,” Chandler said.

“These works are part of the massive $57 million spend on upgrading the Palmerston road network.”

The contract to construct the intersection was awarded to Allan King and Sons, who are involved in other projects within the area.

The project involved the construction of additional turning lanes and upgraded street lighting.

“Road improvements in the Palmerston region are at a record high as we continue to watch the city expand and cater for future needs of a growing population,” he said.

“Importantly, the upgraded intersection forms part of the headworks to the new Palmerston Regional Hospital.”

The Palmerston Regional Hospital is expected to be complete by 2018.
