The Northern Territory government has announced a $20 million Home Improvement Scheme for owners, tradies and small businesses.
Chief Minister, Adam Giles, said applicable companies and individuals would be able to sign up for the scheme immediately.
“The Home Improvement Scheme is one of our key Budget 2016 initiatives and the Territory community is excited about the benefits it will bring,” Giles said.
“This will be a catalyst for an increase in small-scale home improvement and maintenance activity right across the Territory.”
The scheme will provide applicants with up to $2,000 to go towards minor home improvements, repairs or maintenance works.
Minister for Business, Peter Styles, said the initiative would be implemented and monitored throughout the coming 12 months.
“I encourage all Territory home owner-occupiers to do their due diligence, source quotes and treat it as you would any other project,” Styles said.
“I also encourage all small businesses and tradies to register and ensure they make the most of the work that will flow through this program.”
One voucher will be issued per household.
