Northern Territory $92 million May infrastructure spending

Posted On June 8, 2016

The Northern Territory government has awarded $92 million in infrastructure project contracts this May.

Minister for Infrastructure, Peter Chandler, said the government has invested more than $1.5 billion towards infrastructure in the 2015-16 period.

“Projects like the Atitjere remote community housing upgrade, investing in transport infrastructure as well as repairs and maintenance throughout the Northern Territory,” Chandler said.

“They create real jobs and opportunities for local contractors and small businesses, and mean Territorians receive better services.”

More than 100 contracts were awarded in May, including the Dundee Boat Ramp reconstruction and the Gundagai Road upgrade.

“Only the Country Liberals have a plan to create opportunities to deliver more jobs, better services and improve our unique way of life,” Chandler said.

“These investments in our infrastructure and services are part of this government’s commitment to building a prosperous economy by delivering critical infrastructure and improving access to goods and services.”

Over $15 million derived from the Boosting Our Economy package.
