Local Territory contractor Halikos Group Pty Ltd was responsible for the design and construction of the project which created 420 local jobs.

Minister Eva Lawler spoke of the new school and the pathways it will open for new students.

“120 middle and senior year students with high support needs now have a specialised education facility, to engage students in pathway training programs such as horticulture and hospitality, to prepare them for life after school.

“The new facilities are outstanding. The new air-conditioned hall provides electronic roll-out seating with ample space for activities, sports and performing arts, allowing the local school community to use the facilities for extra-curricular activities outside of school hours.

“Locating the new school on the Dripstone Middle School campus provides mutual benefits in shared facilities for both schools and builds on a strong existing relationship.

“Students, parents, teachers and the wider Henbury and Dripstone school communities are thrilled and excited with their new facilities.  Henbury School students transitioned to their new school at the start of Term 3, 2016 with the school now fully operational, and officially opened.”

“We will ensure all young Territorians have access to high quality education facilities, enabling students to have the best opportunities to prepare for life after school, including a repurposing of the old Henbury site to cater for the needs young children who require intensive learning support,” Minister Lawler said.

Henbury School boasts a spacious therapy pool, a 100 kilowatts solar array system and an extensive outdoor learning space, with water features for students to cool off during the wet season.
