Health Minister Natasha Fyles today announced that $12 million in funding had been fast tracked to the project that will see a multi-level car park built.
The funding has been brought forward as part of the State Government's commitment to it's infrastructure plan.
Whilst design tenders haven't been awarded yet, it is expected that the car park will be up to 5 storeys high and provide the capacity of 350 car parking spaces.
The State Government are hopeful that design tenders will be awarded by June 2017, with construction earmarked to be finished late in 2018.
The Minister spoke of the project and the improvements it will provide the hospital.
"The new multi-storey carpark is expected to include up to five levels of parking with approximately 350 spaces.”
“That’s 270 more car parks than currently available"
"There will be the potential to build on additional levels as the Territory grows."
“The Territory Labor government’s $12 million project delivers on a key election commitment to address ongoing issues with car parking at the Royal Darwin Hospital and aligns with our promise to deliver free parking at RDH”
